None of this is expert advice. It's what people worked out for themselves, usually the hard way — what actually helped, and what they'd tell someone standing where you are. Take what fits and leave the rest.
If you only read a few
Apply hot water to the bite.
Heat kills the itch temporarily or breaks down enzymes that cause the reaction.
- Use water hot enough to comfortably put your foot in for three seconds but not four, not scalding.
- Press a towel dipped in boiling water only as long as you can stand without burning yourself.

Heat a metal spoon until it is uncomfortably hot but not burning, then press it against the mosquito bite.
The heat denatures the proteins in the mosquito's saliva that cause the allergic reaction; alternatively, pain/heat signals may override itch sensations.
- Some users report this does not work and is merely a placebo.
