Before you call

They can

  • answer by call, text or chat, 24 hours a day, every day of the year, free
  • talk with you about a friend or loved one as well as yourself: the page invites you to call, text or chat to take care of a friend, a loved one, or yourself
  • help if you are not suicidal: the page says people do not have to be suicidal to call, and lists economic worries, relationships, illness and loneliness among the reasons
  • talk in Spanish (press 2 after dialling 988, or text AYUDA to 988); TTY users can dial 711 then 988
