Brake (National Road Victim Service)

If someone you love has been killed or injured in a road crash, or you were bereaved or injured yourself, you can talk to Brake's free service about what happened and what support you need. They help with practical challenges, the unfamiliar procedures that follow a road crash, worries about money or a court case, and how to find legal support.

Good to know

You can use the self-referral form, call or email help@brake.org.uk. Because of high demand, their page gives a current response time of 10 working days. If you need to talk before then, the Samaritans are on 116 123 at any hour. They do not replace emergency, police or health services: in an emergency call 999.

We list this organization because it is a national service for the need on this page. We’re not affiliated with it, and we don’t speak for it. Last checked October 9, 2026: we opened its own site and confirmed this link and number. We don’t call the lines, and hours can change — their site has the latest.

Heavy moment? Call Samaritans on 116 123 — or we’re here.
