Northern Ireland Gas Emergency Service
If you smell gas in Northern Ireland, you call this number to report it. The Northern Ireland government's site lists it as the Gas Emergency Service. Phoenix Energy asks you to let its engineer in straight away. It is a different number from the one used in England, Wales and Scotland.
Good to know
The gas companies Phoenix Energy and firmus energy both give this number on their own sites. nidirect says to turn off the gas at the meter, open all windows and doors, and not turn any electrical equipment on or off. Phoenix Energy adds that if the meter is in a cellar or basement you should not go in, and that you should leave the building if you smell gas there. It says to put out all naked flames and not to smoke. It also says: “Never leave it to anyone else to call the emergency line.” For gas from an LPG tank, the Gas Safe Register says to use the number on the tank or meter. The Health and Safety Executive says that if you are in doubt, leave the building and tell the police as well. For unsafe gas equipment, nidirect says to use a Gas Safe registered engineer.
