Law Centres Network (find a law centre)

The national network of law centres, which are free local charities with lawyers who give legal advice and, if you need it, can represent you. Its own examples are problems with a landlord, at work or with benefits. The network does not give advice itself: its list and map show where your nearest law centre is, so you can contact it.

Good to know

Its list shows law centres across England, a centre in Cardiff and Law Centre NI in Belfast, and none in Scotland. Each law centre has its own contact details, so use the link on the list. Most law centres work with legal aid and will check whether you can get it. If there is none near you, or yours cannot help, its Other Sources of Help page lists other places to try.

Before you call

Have ready

  • your town, to find the nearest law centre on the list or the map
  • what your problem is about, for example your landlord, your work or your benefits, so you can say so when you contact the centre

They can

  • give you a list and a map of law centres, each with a link to that centre's own website
  • show you where your nearest law centre is, so you can contact it for free legal advice and, if you need it, representation
  • check, at a local law centre, whether you can get legal aid: most law centres work with legal aid
  • point you to other help if there is no law centre where you live or yours cannot assist

They cannot

  • give you legal advice itself: the network does not give legal assistance, the local law centres do
  • have a law centre near everyone: if there is none where you live, its help page lists other places to try, and its list shows none in Scotland
  • take everyone: law centres focus on those in greatest need, and some turn people away because they lack capacity

We list this organization because it is a national service for the need on this page. We’re not affiliated with it, and we don’t speak for it. Last checked October 11, 2026: we opened its own site and confirmed this link and number. We don’t call the lines, and hours can change — their site has the latest.
