Redundancy Payments Service (Insolvency Service, GOV.UK)

If your employer is insolvent and has dismissed you, you can claim redundancy pay and other money your employer owes you, such as unpaid wages, holiday pay and commission, up to legal limits. You apply online. The Service helps if you have questions about completing the online forms. Loss of notice pay is a separate claim that comes after the redundancy claim.

Good to know

You need a 'CN' case reference number from the insolvency practitioner (the person dealing with the insolvency) before you can claim. Email redundancypaymentsonline@insolvency.gov.uk. Have your case reference number or National Insurance number ready when you ask for help. GOV.UK says you must have been an employee, and be a UK or EEA national or a foreign national with the right to work in the UK; if you are not eligible, for example as a contractor, register as a creditor instead. Call charges may apply: GOV.UK links to its call charges page. Apply for redundancy, unpaid wages and holiday within 6 months of being dismissed. To claim loss of notice pay, say yes to it in your application and apply for redundancy first, even if you are owed nothing: you are sent an 'LN' reference number, usually no more than 12 weeks after you are dismissed, to make that claim. Northern Ireland has its own Redundancy Payments Service.
