Children First Support Line

If you are a parent or carer in Scotland, you can call or start a webchat if you are struggling, feel overwhelmed, or just need to hear a friendly voice. They also run the Kinship Care Advice Service for Scotland through this line.

Good to know

The call is free. If you think a child is in immediate danger, ring 999. If you live in England, the site points you to Family Lives instead.

Before you call

They can

  • answer the support line free on 08000 28 22 33: Monday to Friday 9am to 9pm, and weekends 9am to noon
  • support parents and carers in Scotland with worries the page lists, including bullying, social media, exam stress and mental health, with emotional, practical and financial help
  • talk by webchat or email as well as the phone: the page offers both

They cannot

  • help a parent in England directly: the page says, if you live in England, to contact Family Lives (now Coram Family Lives) for further support
  • replace 999: the page says to ring 999 if you think a child is in immediate danger

We list this organization because it is a national service for the need on this page. We’re not affiliated with it, and we don’t speak for it. Last checked October 3, 2026: we opened its own site and confirmed this link and number. We don’t call the lines, and hours can change — their site has the latest.
