Bereavement Service (Department for Communities, Northern Ireland)

You can report the death of someone who was getting Social Security benefits, State Pension or Pension Credit. They record the date of death and tell each office that paid benefit. They also check if you can claim Bereavement Support Payment, a Funeral Expenses Payment or a Child Funeral Fund payment.

Good to know

They can take the information for your application over the phone and pass it to the relevant office. If you use sign language, you might be able to use the video relay service in British Sign Language or Irish Sign Language. Relay UK: 18001 then 0800 085 2463.
