Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SoBS)

If someone you know has died by suicide, you can get peer-led support from people who have been through it themselves. The support is for adults.

Good to know

SoBS describes itself as UK peer-led support: those who have experienced suicide loss help each other. Their site has resources, and the Support line number is on every page.

Before you call

They can

  • listen by phone: the support line is run by trained volunteers who have been affected by suicide themselves
  • answer by email at email.support@uksobs.org, a space for people bereaved by suicide
  • help you find a peer-to-peer support group near you, in person or online: facilitators have also been bereaved by suicide
  • give you access to an online forum for people over 18 bereaved by suicide: applications are approved within a couple of days

They cannot

  • act as a counselling service, or support wider mental health or social care needs
  • stay on a long call: because of demand, call length is limited
  • support children: the support is for adults

We list this organization because it is a national service for the need on this page. We’re not affiliated with it, and we don’t speak for it. Last checked October 3, 2026: we opened its own site and confirmed this link and number. We don’t call the lines, and hours can change — their site has the latest.
