Enforcement of Judgments Office (Northern Ireland)

The Enforcement of Judgments Office is a Northern Ireland court office that enforces civil judgments for the recovery of money, goods and property. One of its orders, an attachment of debt order (also called a garnishee order), gives the Office the power to freeze a debtor's bank account.

Good to know

A garnishee order is served on the bank and is conditional: it gives the bank a chance to appear before the Master to give reasons why the money should not or cannot be paid. The Master can decide any dispute about it.
