Put two numbers in your phone now, while nothing is wrong: your own vet's, and the nearest emergency vet that is open at night. In the US, add the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, (888) 426-4435; in the UK, the Animal PoisonLine, 01202 509000. Then walk through the kitchen and the bathroom at your pet's height and move one thing they could reach — medicines, sugar-free gum, a bin — somewhere they cannot.
